Actor Divyendu, who earned widespread appreciation for his role as Munna Tripathi in Mirzapur, shared his excitement for the film. After the makers announced the series being adapted into a film, fans were quite excited to watch their favourite stars on the big screen together.
Speaking to India Today Digital at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the actor revealed what fans can look forward to in the film and when the cast is set to begin shooting.
While sharing the excitement, he said, “When the idea popped up that we are going to make Mirzapur into a film, I was obviously happy but the way we shot the whole announcement, it was superb. It was larger than life and honestly for the first time I was not just selfishly happy, I was happy for the fans, followers, and friends because they are really very closely attached to the project and the characters.”
Adding, Divyendu shared what fans can expect from the film. “Bhaukaal from what I have heard as a one-liner. All I can tell right now is that it’s going to be bhaukaal and absolutely a fun ride.”
As the anticipation reached a notch higher after the announcement, the actor shared that the shooting is expected to begin in 2025. “We will be going on the floor next year. To get the entire cast together is going to be a huge challenge. I don’t know how Excel manages to do it every time.”
The film will delve deeper into the world of Mirzapur, with its rowdy gangsters returning to portray their iconic characters in a grand, larger-than-life theatrical experience.
Mirzapur: The Film is backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. The film is created by Puneet Krishna and will be directed by Gurmmeet Singh.
